About Tara.

I started Tara Macdonald Botanical Dye, as I fell in love with the beauty and subtlety of natural colours.

My fascination with all things botanical began with childhood flower presses and a copy of The Observers Book of Wildflowers in my pocket. I then spent many happy years as a professional gardener, working in some of the worlds most beautiful gardens. The textures, colours and seasonality of plants became my palette and my passion. I also found the lifelong joy of working with my hands (and a well worn pair of secateurs!)

My journey into botanical dyeing felt like a natural one. I love to watch the seasons unfurl, and to grow and gather materials from my windy garden and local environment for my work. From my little studio on the Sussex coast, I like nothing better than to create gorgeous naturally dyed items for you, your family and your home. They are all made from natural fibres and have sustainability at their heart. They both connect us to our history and give us hope for the future.

I hope you enjoy browsing my collection and bring a little plant magic into your life.
